Shinkansen

The NOZOMI shinkansen. We were on the KODAMA, which didn't look as impressive so I haven't included any pictures. All the trains travel at 300 km/h. And you can purchase your ticket from a machine!
Another view: the platform. Convenience and efficiency! There is no way that an airport can compete.
Lots of room inside. Beverages are not complementary.
Passing another shinkansen, at low speed just outside the station. At full speed, they pass at 600 km/h just a few feet from each other, so a photo wouldn't show anything but blur.
A warning. Don't cross the yellow line! Or you become food for the shinkansen.

Even the Japanese recognize the Japanese stereotypes. Cute girls in sailor uniforms, and a balding (and probably drunk) Japanese businessman.

Next: Mt. Fuji.

All the images.
