BrainsCAN receives $66 million in investment

Western University's BrainCAN initiative has received $66 million dollars in investment from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) today, representing the largest grant in Western's history. BrainsCAN combines expertise from biomedical engineering, medical imaging, and cognitive neuroscience to understand neurological disorders including Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Peters, in collaboration with Dr. Julio Martinez-Trujillo, will be investigating how structural and diffusion magnetic resonance imaging can help guide the placement of electrodes in the brain. This research will not only help elucidate the role of brain connectivity in behaviour,  but improve the efficacy of neurological interventions.
